This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to lead the Sustainable Agri-Food Sciences Division in an internationally renowned scientific Institute.
The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) is a leading multidisciplinary science organisation (staff complement of circa 630 and annual budget of £50m) with a strong international reputation for excellence in science supporting the local and global agri-food sectors.
The successful candidate for this post will be an outstanding research scientist who will lead, coordinate and develop AFBI’s research and development strategy, inspire scientific staff and provide vision, leadership and strategic direction for the Sustainable Agri-Food Sciences Division. Candidates for this position should be internationally recognised scientists with a strong track record of leading and managing collaborative research programmes and stakeholder networks, with the ability to project a clear and compelling vision of the role of science in creating a more profitable, sustainable and environmentally sensitive agri-food industry.
The Director of Sustainable Agri-Food Sciences Division will, along with the Directors of Veterinary Science Division and Finance and Corporate Affairs Division, be designated as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Executive Management Team, which is responsible for the corporate management of the organisation.
