Dr Linda Farmer has recently returned from a short visit to the University of Life Sciences in Warsaw to discuss potential collaborative research on beef quality.
There she met with Professor Agnieska Wierzbicka and colleagues from the University and with Jerzy Wierzbicka, President of the Polish Beef Association. The visit also included a presentation to the department on Beef Flavour by Dr Farmer, presentations by university scientists and a tour of the department.
This visit forms part of a larger collaboration between France, Ireland, Poland and Northern Ireland on beef eating quality. It was proposed that small projects be conducted, involving Polish PhD students visiting AFBI, as a precursor to more substantial research collaboration in the future.
Notes to editors:
AFBI carries out high quality technology research and development, statutory, analytical, and diagnostic testing functions for DARD and other Government departments, public bodies and commercial companies.
