Chris Johnston (AFBI) will be giving a talk as part of a Workshop entitled "Dairy Intensification - implications for Water Demand and Wastewater Treatment" being held on 17th February at the Food Innovation Centre, Loughry Campus, Cookstown, Co Tyrone.
After lifting of the Milk Quotas on 1st April 2015, the Northern Irish dairy industry is going through one of its biggest changes in a generation. The potential intensification of activities both at milk production and milk processing stages of the dairy supply chain demands close consideration, particularly in the areas of adequate water supply and wastewater treatment / disposal facilities. As energy conservation and reducing the carbon footprint are now central to the planning of all new and extended developments it is important that growing intensification demands are explored.
