AFBI Omagh hosts vets meeting

The Association of Veterinary Surgeons Practising in Northern Ireland held its annual meeting at the AFBI Veterinary Laboratory in Omagh on 7 January 2015. The laboratory has been hosting this meeting since 1975 and the event is a key date in the veterinary calendar. A large turnout of over 100 veterinary practitioners attended.

Clinical presentations were given by: Dana Simpson, on “Babesiosis in cattle - to transfuse or not transfuse”; Carolyn Perkins, “On getting to the root of the problem - equine extraction techniques”; Martin Webb, on “Brachycephalic upper airway syndrome - cutting the nose despite the face”; and Jerry Sucllion, “On common conditions of the distal limbs of the racing greyhound”.

 

The meeting was attended by Dr Stuart W J Reid, President of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and Robert Huey, Chief Veterinary Officer DARD.
