Two very different groups visited the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute in Hillsborough recently.

The Dairy Unit and Renewable Energy Unit were the focus of both groups, the first of which was a group of farmers from the North Pembrokeshire Grassland Society in Wales, in Ireland for a four-day visit. They were given an overview of a range of ongoing research issues, including heifer rearing, anaerobic digestion, winter feeding and grazing management and how the research herd is managed.
This was followed by a group of agricultural advisors from Uruguay. This group was particularly interested to hear about the impact of EU policy on environmental issues, as this appears to be an issue of increasing concern in Uruguay.
