The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute today announced that Professor Elaine Watson is to resign from her post as Chief Executive Officer for personal reasons.
In light of the departure of Professor Watson, AFBI Chairman, Mr Colm McKenna, wrote personally to all AFBI staff today to thank them for their hard work, dedication to AFBI Science and support of the Chief Executive.
“It is regrettable that due to personal reasons Professor Watson has decided to resign,” Colm explained. “However I am pleased that she will be with us until the end of October. I have no doubt that Elaine’s intensive discussions with staff and engagement with agri-food industry stakeholders will have helped strategically shape AFBI’s future.”
In a Memo to all AFBI Staff today Professor Watson said,
“I would personally like to thank all of you for making me feel so welcome, to the Chair for his unwavering support and encouragement, to the Board for their help and friendship, to members of DAERA, and to the many external stakeholders with whom I have had great meetings.
