Zone 1

SNHS Zone1
Co Down, area of South and South East Co Antrim and eastern Co Armagh

Initial sampling in Zone 1 took place during 2022/23, covering County Down and parts of Counties Armagh and Antrim. In excess of 132,700 fields were sampled and analysed by the beginning of September 2023. This is unprecedented and dwarfs the numbers taken as part of any previous national soil sampling programme.

Watch the video below to find out more about the sampling process.

  • All eligible Zone 1 fields will be sampled
  • Report with soil results and nutrient application recommendations have been posted and emailed (if email saved on DAERA account) to every farm business
  • Results, nutrient status maps and runoff risk maps can be viewed online through a Government Gateway account.
It is strongly advised to access this valuable resource before completing the CAFRE training.  These are your results, assisting you to make sound management decisions from the knowledge of your field nutrient status and the identified 'hot spots' on run-off risk maps.
  • Access CAFRE SNHS training
  • SNHS results will be uploaded to the CAFRE nutrient calculators
  • If you are a Zone 1 farmer and have not registered as yet you can register by logging onto your Government Gateway account and select Soil Nutrient Health Scheme (Year 3 of the scheme opened on 24 June until 31 August 2024)
