Professor Jim McAdam recently retired from AFBI after almost 40 years of service. Jim’s work over his career has focused on grassland and ecosystems and more recently agroforestry. He was awarded the OBE in 2014 for his services to science in the Falkland Islands, where he is held in high esteem.
In Northern Ireland Jim’s visionary work on Agro-forestry, which started almost 20 years ago is now increasingly recognised as a key tool for agriculture in the future to support many of our environmental challenges including carbon sequestration and ammonia emissions, partly through allowing extended grazing on grassland systems.
Jim’s work has been well recognised and published across the UK, Ireland and further afield. We wish Jim well for a long and healthy retirement.
