The Association of Veterinary Surgeons Practising in Northern Ireland (AVSPNI) held its annual meeting at the AFBI Veterinary Laboratory in Omagh recently.
The laboratory has been hosting this meeting since 1975 and the event is a key date in the veterinary calendar, bringing over 100 veterinary practitioners from across Northern Ireland and some from counties Monaghan and Cavan. The delegates were welcomed to AFBI Omagh by Dr Sinclair Mayne, AFBI CEO.
This event was attended by the RCVS president, Chris Tufnell, who judged the presentations given by veterinary practitioners on keyhole/spay surgery, artificial insemination in mares, enucleation in cows and anesthesia were given by Alan Hartley, John Haughey, Melanie Spahn and Paul Crawford respectively.
Following the event, Chris Tufnell, the RCVS president, gave a short talk before announcing the winner of the Frank Mullen Memorial trophy as Paul Crawford.
