The dairy research programme at AFBI Hillsborough plays an important role in addressing issues relevant to the Northern Ireland dairy sector, and the broader global dairy industry.

Dairy calves
Research programmes encompass a broad range of topics, including calf and heifer rearing, nutrition and management including GrassCheck, forage production and utilisation, health and welfare, optimum and alternative genotypes, environmental issues, milk quality, and economics of milk production systems.  Research is primarily conducted at AFBI-Hillsborough, and when appropriate, on local dairy farms.
