International Day of Women & Girls in Science is an opportunity to celebrate the contribution made by women and girls in the field of Science.
To recognise the great work undertaken and career pathway's of some of our Women in Science, AFBI produced a series of "A Day in the Life" communications which we encourage you to take a few minutes and have a read through below.
Our science is so wide-ranging and we felt this was a great opportunity for you to hear what some of our days look like in connection to the types of scientific work we do, along with the pathways that brought us to the particular field of work.
In hearing about the potato testing in Crop Pathology with Karina O'Neill, farmland visits for carbon analysis with Natasha Crumlish or the scientific research that supports farm animal welfare with Stephanie Buijs, we get to see the diversity of the work being carried out across the organisation, being done by some of the incredible women that work here.
Not forgetting Elaine Groom, who AFBI has benefitted greatly from with her extensive research background, where she now acts as the NI Contact Point under the Horizon Europe Funding Scheme, with every day different to the one before.
And lastly, but by no means least, Catherine Couzens takes us on a journey learning about antimicrobial resistance and what her and her team get up to in the lab, working to tackle the threat of AMR under the European One Health Action Plan.
All very interesting stories to tell and we are delighted they offered to share them with us.
